JeWitch camp is a rare opportunity to learn from and with Rabbi Arthur Waskow, internationally renowned teacher and activist. Reb Arthur says this is his first public appearance on the West Coast in 10 years and, at age 86, he doubts that he will teach out here again.
What Is JeWitch Camp?
JeWitch Camp 2020 is a non-residential retreat for Jews, Pagans, and those who love them, celebrating Shabbat and Tu B'Shevat -- the New Year for Trees.
Camp is highly participatory: rituals, workshops, music, dancing, storytelling, and connecting with friends, new and old. We are blessed with an extraordinary teaching and facilitation team -- click here for their bios.
Camp runs Friday morning through Sunday night. Activities go from approximately 10am to 9pm each day. The magic continues after 9pm with optional late-night activities including songs, snacks, shmoozing, etc.
Location and Meals:
We gather indoors and outdoors at Humanist Hall, 390 27th Street in Oakland, CA. There are plenty of public transit options nearby and space for bike parking on-site.
Yummy vegetarian dinners and Shabbat brunch are provided.
Our Community:
JeWitch Camp is produced by JeWitch Collective. We are a community of Jews, Pagans, and allies who draw on Earth-based magic to pursue tikkun olam (repair of the world).
We strive to create a joyful, inclusive, welcoming and respectful community. We honor self-definition of all kinds, including beliefs, identities and practices. Radical inclusivity is a shared value. Pursuing this enhances camp culture and challenges practices of inequity and domination that hurt us all.
Children and teens are welcome at camp with their adult!
Physical and financial accessibility are community priorities. Our camp's location is wheelchair accessible. In order for everyone to be able to participate, we ask people to come fragrance free -- including laundry, hair and body products (more info at www.jewitch.org/accessibility). Please let us know if you need ASL interpretation or other accommodations.
The Money Part:
A limited number of early bird tickets are available at a sliding scale rate of $275-625. Our actual cost is $430.
We offer some financial aid to campers in financial need who are part of groups that are generally under-represented or marginalized in Bay Area Jewish and Pagan spaces. If you would like to apply for financial aid, first complete this form then email [email protected] letting us know how much you can afford.

What Past Campers Say About Camp
JeWitch Camp is a multi-day restorative event in the Reclaiming tradition for Jews, Pagans, and those who love them. We gather to draw on Earth-Based magick to pursue tikkun olam (repair of the world) and explore the eco-feminist pre-patriarchal pagan roots of Judaism.
This coming year Starhawk and friends will be joined by Rabbis Arthur Waskow and Phyllis Berman as well as Heaven Walker as teachers at camp. We'll be celebrating Shabbat, Havdalah and Tu b'shevat, the Jewish New Year for Trees, from February 7th - 9th. Camp will be a non-residential retreat held at Humanist Hall in Oakland, California.
At camp we co-create rituals and delve into a wide range of topics. We learn about the Native history of the sacred land we inhabit. We explore activism, spirituality, and creativity while also connecting with ourselves, each other, and the earth. We celebrate and luxuriate in the beauty of ancient land and trees.
Camp began as a weekend event in 2015 in the woods at Camp Cazadero. The first two JeWitch Camps celebrated Tu B'Shevat. In 2017 we gathered in March to nurture and activate the revolutionary heart.
There are plans to start a JeWitch Camp in the New England area. Sign up for our email list and follow us on facebook to find out more about these developments.
JeWitch Camp is influenced by, but not officially affiliated with the Reclaiming tradition, which draws on the Principles of Unity, it is loosely based on Witch Camps.
