~ What Is JeWitch Camp? ~
JeWitch Camp is a multi-day restorative event for Jews, Pagans and those who love them that draws on earth-based magick and uses activism, ritual and education to empower ourselves and to pursue tikkun olam (repair of the world).
JeWitch Camp is produced by JeWitch Collective, which is a community of Jews, Pagans, and Allies that draws on Earth-based magick. We use activism, ritual, education and coalition-building to empower ourselves and to pursue tikkun olam (repair of the world). Starhawk has taught at each camp.
We strive to create a joyful, inclusive, welcoming and respectful community. We honor self-definition of all kinds, including beliefs, identities and practices. Radical inclusivity is a shared value. Pursuing this enhances camp culture and challenges practices of inequity and domination that hurt us all.
At camp we co-create rituals and delve into a wide range of topics. We learn about the Native history of the sacred land we inhabit. We explore activism, spirituality, and creativity while also connecting with ourselves, each other, and the earth. We celebrate and luxuriate in the beauty of ancient land and trees.
Children and teens are welcome at camp with their adult!
Physical and financial accessibility are community priorities. Our camp's location is always wheelchair accessible. In order for everyone to be able to participate, we ask people to come fragrance free -- including laundry, hair and body products (more info at www.jewitch.org/accessibility). We also do our best to provide other accommodations that are requested.
~History of Camp~
Camp began as a weekend event in 2015 in the woods at Camp Cazadero. The first two JeWitch Camps celebrated Tu B'Shevat. At our 2017 camp we gathered in March to nurture and activate the revolutionary heart. Rabbis Arthur Waskow and Phyllis Berman joined Starhawk as teachers at camp in 2020 where we celebrated Tu B'Shvat, Shabbat, Kiddush Levanah (sanctification of the moon), and Havdalah.
There are plans to start a JeWitch Camp in the New England area. Sign up for our email list and follow us on facebook to find out more about these developments.
JeWitch Camp is influenced by, but not officially affiliated with the Reclaiming tradition, which draws on the Principles of Unity, it is loosely based on Witch Camps.
